Wikipedia defines him as “one of the most significant of the younger writers in Kannada today. He is a writer of short stories, film scripts and poetry, and is based in Bangalore.
His poetry is characterised by subtle imagism, a minute documentation of the seemingly commonplace, a colloquial idiom and a conscientious refusal to engage in any poeticising. He has so far published six anthologies of short stories, four books of poetry, three plays and a collection of essays.”
You will wonder to know that this famous writer has science background and worked in pharmaceutical industry for almost 23 years.
While in an interview with themanipaljournal.com, the writer himself said:
I have been writing right from my PUC days. I did my post graduation in biochemistry and even at that time I was reading and writing in Kannada. So my major writing happened when I was with science. After my post graduation, I went to Bombay in 1976 and worked there in a pharmaceutical industry called Procter & Gamble as a chemist for almost 23 years. Since then I have been writing. All my fiction, although I was based in Bombay, I wrote in Kannada.
Later he changed his job and came to this creative filed.
This gives a great message that we should pursue what is close to our heart.
